Owners of the Bay City Town Center have found a new tenant to take over the vacant space once occupied by a Target store.
A chain called Big R will open its first Michigan store at the mall in the first quarter of 2019, adding to 22 other Big R locations now in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Ohio.
Big R, headquartered in Illinois, carries farm supplies, seasonal items, apparel, pet products, housewares, tools and has a gun department. Shoppers can find brands such as Under Armour, Levi Strauss, Cub Cadet, Stihl, Milwaukee and DeWalt, according to a news release by Bay City Town Center co-owner and manager Lormax Stern Development.
“Finding the right retailer for the former Target building has been a top priority for Lormax Stern since the store closed in 2015,” said Barbara Behmlander, general manager of Bay City Town Center. “This has been a key building to fill for the property and the Wilder Road corridor.”
