Sears advertisment from The Lansing State Journal Michigan Day by Day

The Frandor Shopping Center, Michigan’s second oldest mall located on the border of Lansing and East Lansing, opened 68 years ago on this day in 1954. To draw in crowds, advertisers promised shoppers, “The greatest shopping thrill in years!“. The name comes from Francis J. Corr, who served as the Lansing developer, who combined his and his wife’s Dorothy name to make ‘Frandor.’ Now known as the Frandor Shopping Center, the outdoor shopping mall has housed some of the most iconic stores — from Sears and Kroger to Beaux and Belles.
